You will receive a confirmation email upon successful submission. The email will contain a confirmation number for your reference. If we have any questions about your submitted document Discover will contact you.

Are there any specifications I should be aware of before submitting my documents?
Yes, there are a few documents that require specific considerations before submitting.
  • - When submitting a document to verify your tax identification number, please ensure that your tax identification number and full name are both on the document before submitting.
  • - When submitting a document to validate your date of birth, note that the document must have your date of birth and full name included.
  • - When submitting a document to verify your address, please ensure that both your address and full name is included on the document.
  • - When submitting a lease agreement or mortgage contract ensure that it is an official, current agreement executed within last 6 months. It must be signed by you, and must show your full name and address.

Verification Documentation

The following documents (or combination of documents) are required in order to open your account. Please note that some documents may provide verification for multiple requirements.

Tax Identification Number (TIN)1

  • Social Security Card
  • W-2 Form for most recent year
  • Current US Military Identification Card
  • Current State Driver's License with TIN listed
  • Current State Identification Card with TIN listed
  • 1st page of most recent federal tax return accompanied by one of the following:
  • Current Passport, US Military Card, Driver's License (with DOB listed), or State Identification Card (with DOB listed)
  • 1Documents MUST contain Depositor's Name and Tax Identification Number (TIN).

Date of Birth2

  • Birth Certificate
  • Current Passport

  • Current State Driver's License with DOB listed

Street Address

  • Current US Military Identification Card with Address listed

  • Telephone, cell phone bill with customer name/address used to open the account, electricity, gas, water, sewer, or trash bill from the last two months accompanied by a Current Passport. US Military Card, Driver's License or State Identification Card with DOB or TIN listed.
  • 1st page of most recent federal tax return accompanied by a Current Passport, US Military Card, Driver's License or State Identification Card with a DOB or TIN listed
  • Lease agreement or mortgage document4
  • 3Documents MUST contain Depositor's Name and DOB.
  • 4Lease agreement or mortgage contract must be an official, current agreement executed within the last six months, signed by the Customer, and must show the depositor's name and address.
